Every evening, an old man lit a small lamp outside his house. One day, a boy asked, “Grandfather, why do you light such a tiny lamp when the whole street has electric lights?”
The old man smiled and said, “This lamp is not meant to brighten the whole street. It only needs to brighten the place where I stand.”
The boy thought about it.
Years later, whenever life seemed difficult, he remembered his grandfather’s words. He stopped worrying about changing the whole world and began by doing one small good thing at a time.
Sometimes, a little light is enough to show us the next step.
